What we keep, and what we don't
When you report a machine, we record a random code your browser keeps and a scrambled version of your network address. This lets us tell one reporter from another and spot false reports. Neither one identifies you, and we cannot work out your address from the scrambled version.
When you log a loss we record the building, the apartment, the machine, what went wrong, the date, and an optional time. We do not ask for your name, email, phone, address or any account when you log.
Losses are grouped by building and apartment. That means anyone who selects an apartment can ask for that apartment's report. We accept this because the records are only dates, machine numbers and dollar amounts, and the audience is residents of this one building — see the Terms.
When you ask for a report, we also collect the email address to send it to, and optionally a name to print on the report. The email is not attached to individual losses.
There is a separate, optional mailing list for occasional updates about the laundry room. It is opt-in: you only join by using the sign-up box at the bottom of the board or the link in a report email — asking for a report never adds you. We keep only your email address and building, we never link it to a logged loss, and every update has a one-click unsubscribe.
Every entry is your own account of what happened. It is not verified by us or by the laundry company, and the report says so.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits so we can tell whether people are finding the site. It records the page visited, where the visit came from, a rough country and the kind of device — no cookies, no names, and nothing tied to you or to a machine you reported.
We keep logged losses for up to 24 months so we can produce reports, and then remove them.
To have an apartment's losses removed, email us at info@ourlaundryroom.com and tell us the building and apartment.
